Cannabis Consumption Methods

When many people think about cannabis, they picture people smoking it. While they may be correct in some respects, there are many more methods for consuming cannabis other than smoking it. Cannabis products are constantly evolving and new consumption methods will continue to grow. There are numerous  Let’s take a look at some of the many different methods of cannabis consumption.

  • Smoking

  • Vaping

  • Dabbing

  • Edibles

  • Topical and Transdermal

  • RSO/FECO

  • Isolate/Distillate

  • Capsules

Smoking

Smoking cannabis is quite possibly one of the fastest and most effective ways to feel the results of it. To smoke cannabis, you simply light it on fire and inhale. You don’t just light it on fire and hover over it breathing. This is dangerous and wasteful. In order to smoke cannabis, you will need to roll it into a joint or a blunt. You can also smoke cannabis using a pipe, sometimes referred to as a bowl or a bong. By smoking cannabis, consumers typically feel results virtually instantly. Always be cautious when smoking as you could burn yourself, clothing, or other items around you.

Vaping

Vaping cannabis has become extremely popular. Many people enjoy the discretion that vaping cannabis offers them. Cartridges and pods can be purchased at dispensaries, or you can make your own at home. Many people enjoy vaping as it is a cleaner option that is ash-free and lacks the carcinogens you get from smoking cannabis when inhaling the burnt flowers. Vaping doesn’t have the potential hazards of ashes or a hot flame, but you better keep an eye on your battery charge. Nothing’s worse than going to take a hit off of your vape device and getting nothing.

Dabbing

Dabbing is a method of cannabis consumption that has gained immense popularity due to its strength and effectiveness. Dabbing is done by using cannabis concentrates and a dab rig, straw, or electronic dabbing device. You can also add cannabis concentrates to flower in a bowl, blunt, joint, or bong. Unlike cannabis flowers that contain an average THC level between 12 and 25%, cannabis concentrates average between 50% upwards to as high as 99% THC. When you are new to dabbing, remember that just a dab will do.

With so many different cannabis consumption methods available, the only question left is which one or ones are right for you?

Edibles

Edibles are becoming an increasingly popular cannabis consumption method. Many people like the ease of dosing as well as the effects. Edibles take longer to take effect than any other form of cannabis consumption. The time they take to kick in varies from person to person ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hours on average. Some people feel great with 10 mg of cannabis edibles, others prefer 100, and others prefer 1,000. You can find all kinds of tasty treats infused with cannabis ranging from brownies and cookies to candies, popcorn, honey, butter, hot sauce, and more.

Topical and Transdermal

Topical and Transdermal products such as cannabis lotions, creams, salves, balms, mists, and more are another great way to enjoy the beneficial effects of cannabis. There is a difference between topical and transdermal cannabis products. A topical cannabis product will sit on top of the skin, whereas a transdermal cannabis product will seep through to the muscles. Topical cannabis products are great for promoting healthy skin, and transdermal cannabis products are great at helping to relieve inflammation, pain, swelling, and discomfort.

Capsules

Cannabis capsules are a great way to take controlled doses of cannabinoids. You can purchase them pre-made or make them yourself at home. Cannabis capsules can be filled with everything from RSO or FECO oil all the way to CBD or THC isolate and in between. You can fill capsules with de-carbed flower, distillate, isolate, or make your own activated THC oil, RSO, or FECO oil at home to fill capsules with. Cannabis capsules can help with everything from improving mood and relieving pain to improving the appetite and helping promote relaxation and sleep.

RSO/FECO

RSO is a type of cannabis oil made using isopropyl alcohol. It was made popular by an individual named Rick Simpson, who shared the recipe for making this oil with the world. This is why it is most commonly referred to as RSO or Rick Simpson Oil.

FECO oil is very similar to RSO. The main difference is FECO oil contains a full spectrum of cannabinoids, vitamins, minerals, terpenes, flavonoids, and aminos. FECO oil is made using very strong alcohol such as Everclear or 200 proof ethyl alcohol. This variety of oil comes in capsules or a syringe. A small amount is taken on a consistent basis. Patients who suffer from a wide array of symptoms and conditions ranging from nausea and cancer to chronic pain and other medical conditions report seeing benefits from cannabis oils such as these.

Isolate/Distillate

Isolate/Distillate are types of concentrated cannabis oil. Distillate is a production technique that creates concentrate from cannabis plants in the form of an oil that is used to make vape carts and commonly used in making edibles. It contains a broad spectrum of cannabinoids compared to isolate.

Isolate is exactly what it sounds like. It is a specific cannabinoid isolated from others, such as CBD isolate, which is 99% pure. The most common forms of cannabis isolate are THC and CBD isolate. Other forms of isolate such as CBN and CBG are starting to grow in popularity as well and become available in some places.

With so many different methods for consuming cannabis, the only question left is which one or ones are right for you? Some people use a combination of all of the methods of consumption, while others prefer sticking to just one or two. The beauty about cannabis is the choice is yours. Consuming cannabis can treat each person differently. This means what works for one person may not work the same for you. Be mindful of your method of consumption and how much you consume until you know how it will treat you and to reach your desired effects from cannabis consumption.
